It’s hard when you lose respect for a person you used to like and still have to see regularly. If I had a burn book, you’d be in there, “friend”.

Although still technically on holidays, I’ve been teaching summer school this week for a bit of extra cash. I only have five students (all about to start Year 7) in my class and we’re covering some pretty basic literacy and numeracy stuff.
So far, I’m really enjoying it. There are no behaviour problems because the class is so small and it’s really rewarding to observe their little “lightbulb moments”, when they finally grasp a concept that had previously eluded them.
I can’t help but think of Zoolander’s Centre for Kids Who Can’t Read Good…

Nothing too hardcore, just a few simple things to make life better in 2012.
1. I will save slightly more money each pay cheque.
2. I will not stress too much about the new job - I will embrace its challenges without over burdening myself.
3. I will not become a crazy bride who becomes obsessed with table arrangements and weight loss:
a) Guests who attend weddings will be happy to be placed wherever I place them. If not, they can STFU or stay home
also;
b) My fiancee already knows what I look like, so do all my friends and family. It is pointless going on a rabid diet and exercise regime so that I can look “beautiful”. Bitches, I will look beautiful at my freakin’ wedding regardless of my size!
4. I will clean my car more frequently.
5. I will make more of an effort to see my friends on a regular basis.
That should do it for now I think. Amendments may be on the cards, but I’d say that I’m pretty satisfied with the list.
My fiancee and I are going to Adelaide over New Year’s to catch up with some friends, so number 5 is off to a good start!
Whether you’re traveling, going out or staying in over New Year’s, here’s hoping that you enjoy a toast with at least one good friend over the break :)

What are your 2012 resolutions?
This is our cat, Bronx. We got him when he was two and a half (from a cat shelter), so he already had that name. He is also affectionately known as Da Bonks, Little Man and Fluffy Pants. Bronx is about five and a half now, we hope he will be with us for a very long time!
This is the best present I got this year, my very own muppet from FAO Schwarz. They don’t ship to Australia (why the hell not???) so my fiancee had it sent to a US-based friend who organised the shipping (thanks, Erin).
A great surprise :)
